Overview:
A fantastic Merzouga Day Trip to the unexplored serene Oasis of Safsaf, where you’ll see nomad families, have lunch, swim in the oasis, and see all the noteworthy sights along route.
Around 10:00 am we will leave our guesthouse near the Erg Chebbi to go towards SafSaf Oasis close to the Algerian Border (about 1 km).
We will stop on the way as often as you like to enjoy the beautiful landscape. We will visit a nomad family and share a traditional Berber welcome tea with them.
From Merzouga, we will continue to Safsaf Oasis. It is a stunning place, enclosed by uninhabited high hills and a lush palm tree, with a river of the same name, which is crossed. We will enjoy lunch in such a paradise-like environment.
We will leave SafSaf before sunrise and follow a trail to the Tissardmine oasis. This oasis is a great contrast of rock, water, and vegetation. We will stop and take pictures, then continue to our accommodation to say goodbye.
Both Zagora and Merzouga offer unique desert experiences, but Merzouga is often preferred for its larger dunes and more varied activities.
To fully experience Merzouga and its surroundings, it’s recommended to stay for at least 2 to 3 days.
